A bladder tank that stores pressurized water so the pump does not run every time a tap is opened.
A pressure tank uses compressed air on one side of a rubber bladder to push stored water out to the house. The pump fills the tank when pressure drops to the cut-in setpoint and shuts off at the cut-out setpoint. Properly sized tanks reduce pump cycling, extend pump life, and smooth out household pressure. Most Utah homes run 20- to 80-gallon tanks at 40/60 psi.
